Ruins
Do you ever stare up at the ruins
of what life we used to have
like Egyptians standing in the shadow
of long lost glory
wishing for that time
when not everything was right
but more than it was wrong
You brought down our temples
you turned our pyramids to dust
with avarice and short sighted lust
and yet i still remain
a monument to your sin
and remain still
i will never be a memory
not some skeleton in your closet
added to the pile of the rest of your mistakes
no my dear,
this tomb carries a curse
and this bag of bones
is very very much alive...
